Mr. Schmitt is a principal, executive vice president and chief operating officer, responsible for operations of both AccuVal and sister firm LiquiTec Industries, Incorporated. A Certified Public Accountant and multidiscipline appraiser, Mr. Schmitt has extensive experience appraising businesses, intangible assets, machinery, real estate and inventory, across manufacturing, distribution and service industries. He has managed multi-national evaluations of manufactured and retail inventories, businesses, product lines, trademarks, patents, equipment, machinery and real property. Mr. Schmitt led the design and development of the fully integrated systems and technologies used to manage AccuVal's global appraisal operations. Mr. Schmitt also has extensive litigation support experience having testified before, numerous federal bankruptcy courts, civil courts, and tax authorities. He has also performed many appraisals involving true lease analysis, and valuations of assets at lease inceptions, buyouts, and residual valuations.
Mr. Schmitt is also executive vice president of LiquiTec Industries, Incorporated, an international liquidation firm. Mr. Schmitt has performed numerous liquidations of business, product lines, inventory and assets in a broad range of industries both domestic and abroad. Mr. Schmitt has extensive experience in advising clients on business and asset sale strategies.
Mr. Schmitt has more than 25 years of experience in the appraisal industry. He co-founded AccuVal and LiquiTec in 1988 and served as executive vice president until the companies were purchased by DoveBid, Inc. in 2000. He managed the international inventory appraisal practice and guided development of the internal systems and technologies at DoveBid Valuation Services. In March 2003, Mr. Schmitt resumed the position of executive vice president and chief operating officer of AccuVal following the repurchase of the company. His career in the industry began in 1980 with predecessor firms The Gronik Company, Incorporated and David S. Gronik & Co., Inc., prior to which he was an accountant with Arthur Young.
Mr. Schmitt holds several accreditations, including CPA, Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) from the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts in business valuation, he is a general associate member and senior accredited equipment appraiser of the American Society of Appraisers (ASA), state certified real estate appraiser, and member of the Machinery Dealers National Association (MDNA). Mr. Schmitt was named among the 2000 Notable Men in America and is listed in Who's Who In American Society and Business and Who's Who in the Computer Industry. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting. |
