Our History

Much has changed since Andy Gronik and Rick Schmitt established AccuVal Associates, Incorporated and LiquiTec Industries, Incorporated in the late '80s. What has remained consistent is the companies' unwavering commitment to putting customers' interests first. It is the cornerstone of the firms' business philosophy.

1925 — AccuVal and LiquiTec trace their roots back to the mid-1920s when a young man named Meyer Gronik established a barrel distribution company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Within three years, the one-man Meyer Gronik Company expanded and diversified, bringing on a handful of employees and venturing into the auction business. Soon the firm was conducting auctions of agricultural and manufacturing operations throughout southeastern Wisconsin.

1950 — Son David S. Gronik joined the company as an auctioneer, bringing a new generation of desire and "street smarts."

1957 — David S. Gronik established his own auction operation, David S. Gronik & Co., Inc., conducting onsite liquidations of machinery throughout Wisconsin. The third generation followed familiar footsteps into the family business. At the tender age of 10, son David S. (Andy) Gronik, Jr. began helping at auctions by sweeping out plants, cleaning machinery and holding court alongside his father at the auctioneer's podium. At age 15, Andy Gronik conducted his first auction.

1980 — After earning a business degree from the University of Georgia-Athens, Andy Gronik rejoined the family business. He helped found The Gronik Company, Incorporated, serving as president and leading the valuation and advisory firm to national prominence.

1988 — Mr. Gronik and Rick Schmitt established AccuVal and LiquiTec. The appraisal and auction companies quickly gained acceptance by major lending institutions and corporations worldwide and grew to include customers across the globe.

2000 — AccuVal & Liquitec were acquired by DoveBid, Inc. Mr. Gronik was named president and chief operating officer for DoveBid Valuation Services (DVS), responsible for appraisal and consulting services worldwide. Mr. Schmitt managed DVS' inventory appraisal practice internationally and guided development of the company's information technology systems.

2003 — Mr. Gronik and Mr. Schmitt repurchased and relaunched AccuVal and LiquiTec in March 2003, continuing a proud 75-year legacy in the industry. Today, AccuVal is the largest valuation firm with resources dedicated to serving asset-based lenders in North America. As before, AccuVal's valuation and advisory services and LiquiTec's asset management and disposition services have been approved and endorsed by major corporations, money center banks and prominent service providers across the globe.
